About Us

Girls Who Travel is about women of travel, not means. We exist to encourage women who sleep in hostels, pay for everything in change, work under-the-table jobs, and scrounge through countries just to see the world and we aim to keep you safe while doing it!

Our goal is to unite women of all ages who have a passion for travel. So let’s support each other! And together, we'll discover the world.

GWT Founder - Arden Joy
Arden grew up to bedtime stories of adventures in far away lands and consequently fell madly in love with travel long before she stepped off the balmy shores of her country. Her first international trip was to Japan at the age of 15 and after a serious bout of culture shock, she realized she was hooked for life. Since then she's been to 16 countries - including a year long teaching stint in Japan. Arden now works as a Marketing and Communications gal, but keeps her passport ready should the opportunity arise.

GWT Founder - Debbie Lynn
Debbie developed an interest in travel at an early age. Her father would bring home souvenirs and pictures from his worldwide travels to places such as Venezuela, Egypt, and China. Hiding in a spare bedroom poring over old magazines of National Geographic, instead of doing her homework, fostered her desire to travel as she grew older. One of her first memories is a family trip to Montreal when she was only four. Since then, Debbie has managed to travel to 16 countries before even graduating college! Some of her favorite destinations include the Czech Republic, Japan, and Scotland. In her spare time Debbie likes to hang out at bookstores, watch foreign films, take road trips, and spend time with her black lab, Shadow.

GWT Director - Dawn

Dawn’s fascination with the world began in grade school when her teacher simply instructed the class to paint the outlines of the seven continents. Soon enough she was memorizing all the capital cities in Europe and South America and begging her mom to quiz her on trivia about the 50 states. Her first international trip came when she was 11 and spent two weeks in the former Soviet Union training with her gymnastics team. Since then she has gone to France three times, Japan, Costa Rica, and Jamaica. Dawn is a journalist and someday she hopes to work for a travel magazine and write fabulous accounts of extraordinary places throughout the world.
